The output
In Marena´s workshop iron is worked and worked till it “speaks” through the many artistic shapes reproducing characters and situations inspired by mythology and contemporary history.
So we have the “Revoltosos” in 1968, “Don Quixote” in the ’70s, the “Flight of Swallows” and many others. In the following years we have works reproducing episodes of Children’s Literature such as (“Pinocchio”) and works that remind us Disney’s characters, biblic and sacred themes.
Nowadays the output proposes furnishing like beds, tables, mirrors and gates too. The armonic union of iron with wood and ceramic, used to emphasize particular works, are also worth stressing.
The technique
Any work comes out from a design on which iron is modelled. Then the soldering imprimes the wished shapes.
According to Michele Marena the oxyhydrogen flame represents the sculptur’s chisel and iron, following his will, takes many shapes, even human features (Don Quixote, Jesus Christ …).
Any work is unique and reflects the customer’s wishes.
